Tirupati Dress Code for Men and Women and Temple Rules
What to wear, what to leave behind and how to behave in the queue.
The day our cousin was sent back
Our cousin came in jeans for a seva and the staff politely asked him to change. We had to buy a dhoti from a shop near the queue and lost almost an hour. Now we pack traditional clothes for everyone the night before.
TTD asks devotees to dress in traditional Indian clothes, and it is strict for sevas and VIP break darshan. Rules can change, so check TTD before you go.
Quick answer: Tirupati dress code for men: dhoti with upper cloth or kurta pyjama. Tirupati dress code for women: saree, half saree or churidar with dupatta. Jeans, shorts, sleeveless tops and short dresses are not allowed for darshan or sevas at Tirumala.
